We recently took a trip visiting Omaha with our family, and let me tell you, it was a blast! From delicious eats to fun activities, we made some amazing memories. Here’s a rundown of our adventure-packed weekend in this charming Midwest city.
Culver’s Lunch and Target Snack Run
After wrapping up our family photo session, we were ready for some good ol’ Midwest comfort food. Our first stop was Culver’s for lunch. Their butterburgers and cheese curds never disappoint. With full bellies, we made a quick stop at Target to stock up on snacks for the hotel room. Because, let’s be honest, you can never have too many snacks when you’re visiting Omaha!
Hotel Pool Fun and a Movie Night in Iowa
Once we checked into our hotel, it was time for some swimming. The kids had a blast splashing around in the pool, and it was a great way to unwind. Later, we made the short 10-minute drive into Iowa to catch a movie at AMC. It was a perfect way to end our first day in Omaha, filled with laughter and relaxation. Highly recommend Despicable Me 4!
Morning Coffee at Archetype Coffee
The next morning, we started our day with a visit to Archetype Coffee. This place is a gem! Their homemade syrups add a special touch to their already delicious coffee. I highly recommend trying the rosemary bagel and the banana nut bread—they were both to die for. It’s the little places like this that make visiting Omaha so special.
Exploring the Henry Doorly Zoo
One of the highlights of our trip was spending 4.5 hours at the Henry Doorly Zoo. This zoo is incredible! With so many exhibits and animals to see, we easily could have spent the entire day there. The kids loved the aquarium and the jungle exhibits, and we all learned so much about the different species. If you’re visiting Omaha with your family, the zoo is an absolute must-visit.
Dinner at Greek Islands Restaurant
After a fun-filled day at the zoo, we were ready for a hearty meal. We stopped at the Greek Islands Restaurant, and it was a fantastic choice. Their gyros were the best we’ve ever had. The flavors were so authentic and delicious, I would 100% go back just to eat more food from there. It was the perfect way to end our trip on a high note.

Our visit to Omaha was filled with great food, fun activities, and quality family time.
